Water management Water is an essential resource, vital for all forms of life. It supports ecosystems, human health and enables businesses. We seek to help safeguard it for future generations. Water is an integral part of our operations and we believe that our activities have the potential to impact water quantity and quality. The UAE's arid environment faces significant water scarcity challenges21. The UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 aims to reduce water demand, improve efficiency and increase the reuse of treated water. In alignment with this strategy, ADNOC is committed to sustainable water stewardship to support both its operational needs and national water security goals. 21 ADNOCs operations in Abu Dhabi are located in a water stressed area as identified by the World Resource Institute (WRI) Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas tool. 22 Our fresh water is withdrawn from municipal water sources which we receive from third-party distribution companies managed by UAE government authorities ADNOC uses seawater as the primary source for its water needs, the majority of which is used for cooling purposes and fire-fighting activities. We are committed to limiting our freshwater21 consumption to below 0.5% annually. Water withdrawal by source Seawater (brackish) 94.25% Groundwater (brackish) 4.22% Produced water 1.24% Third-party water (fresh) 0.29% 80
