Energy Resilience in the Intelligence Era The findings for this year’s Powering Possible report describe a sector that has settled the question of whether AI belongs in energy and moved on to harder ground: where to deploy it, what to measure, and who is accountable when it acts. The task ahead is to build the systems that intelligence can run on, and to value what those systems protect. INSIGHT RECOMMENDATION The measure of value from AI has widened. Leaders are increasingly judging AI on its ability to help organizations navigate complexity, uncertainty and disruption, not just drive efficiency and reduce costs. Invest in AI as resilience infrastructure. As energy systems become more exposed to disruption, AI should be viewed as a resilience capability, not just a productivity tool. Predictive analytics, intelligent monitoring and optimization can help anticipate shocks, adapt faster and maintain performance under changing conditions. Investment momentum is clear; conversion is the test. One in five leaders say current investments in AI have clearly exceeded their costs, while more than half expect future investments to do so. Confidence still runs ahead of proof. Close the gap with evidence. Publish use cases and realized outcomes from completed deployments, and hold new investments to clear KPIs for operational, financial and resilience value. 36
